MANAGEMENT

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) :

The MD & CEO is responsible for the operational management of the Company and is accountable to the Board of Directors.

The key responsibilities of the MD & CEO are:

  • To supervise and review the preparation of the annual budgets of the company.
  • Subsequent to approval of the Company’s annual budget by the Board of Directors, the General Manager will regularly appraise GIPI's performance against the budgetary targets.
  • To approve GIPI's overall production and procurement plans.
  • To approve GIPI's plant maintenance plan and procedures, including requests for modifications and additions to plant equipment, buildings and/or services.
  • To authorise the disbursement of funds in accordance with approved company procedure.
KEY MANAGEMENT TEAM

Mr. Hamdan A.H.Al-Shaqsy, MD & CEO :

Mr. Shaqsy has over 26 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry with over 20 years in core finance areas. Over the past 16 years Mr. Shaqsy has held senior management positions across key finance functions such as Management Accounting, Financial Control and Commercial Services.

Mr. Shaqsy has been the CFO and Secretary to the Board of Directors at Oman LNG LLC since 2001 where he brought about notable improvements in the finance function of the company including the consolidation of the Contracting and Procurement activities under Finance, served as Chairman of the company Tender Board for over 5 years, a key member of the company IT Steering Committee and Oman LNG Management Team. Mr. Shaqsy was also appointed by the Shareholders of Oman LNG to represent Oman LNG’s interest as a Shareholder representative in Qalhat LNG.

Prior to Oman LNG, Mr. Shaqsy was heading various strategic initiatives at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). His career at PDO extended for over 20 years during which period he was Head of Gas Finance and Head of Contracts and Administration Services and for 3 years as a Management Accountant for various Strategic Business Units in Shell Brunei Petroleum.

Mr. Masoud Barwani, Executive Project Director and Deputy CEO :

Mr.Barwani has over 23 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry with over 15 years of pipeline engineering experience at PDO. During his tenure he had varying professional responsibilities ranging from on-site construction supervision to managing multi-million dollar projects. Mr. Barwani is proficient in contracting and procurement and has developed a deep understanding and hands-on application of PDO/Shell standards and processes.

Mr. Barwani’s most recent role at PDO was as Head of Gas Pipeline Projects where he was responsible for managing all gas pipelines / flowlines and small field development projects. Mr. Barwani’s notable achievement was a successful management of the entire project for a 260 KM gas pipeline design, construction to commissioning at the end of 2005. Prior to his most recent role, Mr. Barwani was Head of Pipeline projects and Pipeline Integrity at PDO.

Mr. Ho Suk Ko, Deputy Vice President for Project Construction & Plant EPC Manager :

Mr. Ko is a Korean national with over 17 years of experience in running ERW mills in Korea and Saudi Arabia.

Prior to joining GIPI, Mr. Ko was the quality assurance manager and technical management representative at Arabian Pipes Co. (APC), an ERW and quoting mill in Riyadh. At APC Mr. Ko was responsible for obtaining approvals from key clients in the oil and gas industry in the region such as Saudi Aramco, QGPC, KOC/KNPC, Shell/PDO, EGPC, NPCC, ADCO/ADNOC. Mr. Ko has developed excellent working relations with raw material suppliers such as HADEED, POSCO and THYSSEN.

Mr. Ko started his career as a Quality Assurance Manager with Busan (currently known as SeAH Steel) Steel Pipe Co. Ltd. an ERW and SAW Mill in Korea. During his tenure at Busan Mr. Ko was responsible for the tender inspection and test control for major clients such as Saudi Aramco, Korea Gas Co., ONGC India and GAIL India.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Currently the core business functional departments are consolidated into four major divisions, namely; Operations, Sales and Marketing, Administration and Project. Divisional directors will be accountable to the MD &CEO.
